European provider of load-handling equipment Cargotec has launched a new concept it is calling ‘EcoService.’ The company says the types of solutions offered in the EcoService portfolio will bring new levels of cost efficiency, productivity and reliability to customers' operations. The new service, designed for a wide variety of heavy-duty material handling operations from ports and terminals to specialist industrial applications, includes EcoDriving, in which Cargotec's Training Academy teaches best driving practices to operators of rolling equipment, such as terminal tractors, forklifts, empty/loaded container handlers and reachstackers. The course, which can be completed in a few days, features lessons in economical driving and lifting techniques, improved knowledge of RPM verses torque, interpreting information provided on the display, and the impact of driving styles on fuel consumption and emissions. Content can also be tailored to the type of equipment customers use, the operational environment, and the number of persons to be trained. The aim is improved reliability of equipment, longer and more cost-effective equipment lifecycles, sustainable parts sourcing, reduced fuel consumption, and a lower carbon footprint.
